Iniciado no contexto do Tanzplan programa de residências da FabrikPotsdam (Alemanha), “The Postponed Project” é um projecto em continuidade e a sua apresentação consiste num programa de várias peças coreográficas entre os 5 e os 25 minutos.

O nosso principal interesse, ao criar The Postponed Project, foi adiar a interpretação verbal de modo a deixar o significado emergir do material improvisado por si mesmo. Por esse motivo a necessidade de registar esse material. No entanto ao alargar o conceito, descobrimos que ao criar um arquivo disponível a ser usado e re-utilizado a qualquer momento no sentido de criar novas peças, teríamos a possibilidade de criar trabalhos sem ter de importar temas ou ideias externas ao material original: tudo poderia emergir emanentemente através de uma orgânica e progressiva maturação das primeiras sessões de estúdio, e depois, a partir de qualquer outro ponto do processo, regressar ao arquivo e escolher um novo ponto de partida ou centro.

À quinta repetição do estudo 6 para pianola de Colon Nancarrow, o primeiro espectador deixa a sala. À sexta repetição Abraham Hurtado solta um comovente grito. Um longo e sustentado “Não” que se torna cada vez mais desesperado. THE POSTPONED PROJECT (2009)

Developed in the Tanzplan Residency Program by FabrikPotsdam (Germany). This is an ongoing project and its presentations consist in a program of several choreographic pieces between 5 and 25 min.
Our main concern, when starting the Postponed Project, was to postpone the verbal interpretation in order to let a meaning emerge from the choreographic material itself (given the overwhelming interpretative power of language): thus the necessity of registering that material. But when extending the concept, we have discovered that by creating an archive that could be used and re-used at will to create new pieces we would have the possibility to create works without ever having to import external themes or ideas: everything would emerge immanently from an organic and progressive maturation of the first studio sessions, and then from any point of that process, by returning to the archive and choosing a new starting point or center.
